Every minute, day and night, a traffic light government between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP is negotiated in Potsdam. And yet a quick conclusion of the talks is still a long way off.

Every minute, day and night, a traffic light government between the SPD, the Greens and the FDP is negotiated in Potsdam.

And yet a quick conclusion of the talks is still a long way off.

  • Greens co-boss Annalena Baerbock * sees Greens * as sole responsibility for climate protection.

  • FPD * boss Christian Lindner * sees 100 billion euros in new debt as "adequate".

  • Traffic light coalition members * still without an appointment for the coalition agreement.

Potsdam - The crucial weeks in the negotiations on a traffic light government are about to begin.

But a quick breakthrough in this has not yet emerged.

For the coalition negotiations, the motto “thoroughness before hurry” continues to apply, said Greens co-boss Annalena Baerbock at the weekend.

The talks with the SPD and FPD are a "great challenge".

It is a time, says SPD Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz *, when there is “little sleep” for those directly involved.

In order for there to be “good results”, many specific topics must be discussed at the same time.

At the state party conference of the Brandenburg SPD in Schönefeld, he said it was also about "doing well when a government has been formed".

Baerbock - parties come with certain topics: "from completely different worlds"

After a successful exploratory phase, the SPD, Greens and FDP have been negotiating a coalition since the end of October.

Next week they want to present a draft coalition agreement.

An exact day has not yet been determined.

The 21-person main round of negotiations will meet again on Monday (November 22nd, 2021), which will also include the respective party chairmen and Olaf Scholz.

At the Landtag of the Greens in Potsdam on Saturday, Baerbock said that there were subject areas in which the three parties “came from completely different worlds”.

At times it jerked "violently" and gave the Greens the feeling that they were solely responsible for climate protection.

Lindner: 100 billion euros in new debt would be "adequate"

However, Baerbock is also of the opinion that there are areas “where this color constellation can create a real departure”.

It is now spoken "every minute, day and night".

"We'll see how many more days it will take."

FDP leader Christian Lindner made it clear that priorities would have to be set for the controversial financing of the traffic light projects.

The budget planning of the outgoing government with 100 billion euros in new debt is "adequate", so Lindner *, who acted as a possible finance minister, told the Süddeutsche Zeitung on Saturday.

However, there must be a chronological order.

"Which of the many desirable projects comes when?"

Traffic light coalition: poll numbers remain unchanged

In a survey commissioned by Bild am Sonntag, the values for the traffic light parties remained unchanged.

The SPD came to 26 percent, the Greens to 15 percent and the FDP to 13 percent.

CDU * / CSU * had to give up one point in the electoral favor and stood at 21 percent.

In contrast, the AFD * gained one point to twelve percent.

The left * remains unchanged at five percent.

For the survey, the polling institute Insa interviewed 1501 people between November 15 and 19.

The maximum error rate is plus / minus 2.7 percentage points.
