The Defense tunnel was partly closed to traffic overnight from Sunday to Monday.
Sytadin, the site in charge of monitoring traffic in Ile-de-France, indicates that this concerns "the A14 to Paris between A14-A86 / Nanterre and A14-N13 / Bd Circulaire".
The recommended alternative routes are as follows:
1.
To reach Paris or the circular boulevard de la Défense from the A86 direction outside Nanterre, take exit n ° 1 towards the D986 (avenue de la Commune de Paris) then take the direction of Nanterre (University, Prefecture) by the D914 and find the directions for Paris and La Défense.
2.
To join the A14 towards the province from the A86 direction outside Nanterre, take exit n ° 1 towards the D986 (avenue de la Commune de Paris) then take the direction of Nanterre (Chemin de l'île ) and find the directions of Rouen and Poissy.
Security systems worked well
Regarding the causes of the closure, the fire of a vehicle is involved.
Contacted by Le Parisien, the Paris firefighters explain that they were called around 3:30 am.
Their intervention lasted two hours.
Four people were slightly injured.
Unless there is any evidence from the investigation that proves the contrary, the track chosen is that of an accident caused by a single vehicle.
After the shock, it would have caught fire.
Firefighters insist that all of the tunnel's security systems worked properly.
This has made it possible both to facilitate their intervention, but also to limit the risks of spread and increase in the human toll.
Once their intervention is completed, the time it takes to reopen the tunnel depends on the duration of the police observations and the time to evacuate the vehicle.
The decision is taken by the prefecture and the road directorate.
