The investigation into the death of Marco Pantani
, the cycling champion found dead on 14 February 2004 in the Le Rose residence in Rimini,
has been reopened for the third time
.
This is a case of murder, against unknown persons, opened after the information sent by the parliamentary anti-mafia commission to the Rimini Public Prosecutor's Office, in 2019. Local newspapers reported it and the news is confirmed to ANSA by the lawyer Fiorenzo Alessi, defender of the Pantani family.
In 2016 the bis investigation was closed and the murder ruled out.
Recently the Pirate's mother, Tonina Belletti, was heard in the Prosecutor's Office.
The new investigation would
take its cue, among other things, from the hearing of Fabio Miradossa, who in 2005 negotiated a penalty for drug dealing linked to the death of the Cesenatico Pirate, to the anti-mafia parliamentary commission, in January 2020, which then reported it to the prosecutors. "Marco was killed, I met him 5-6 months before he died and he certainly did not seem like a person who wanted to kill himself. He was always in search of the truth about the facts of Madonna di Campiglio, he always said that was doped ", the words of Miradossa in an audition that was then partially classified.
Tonina Pantani, who recently turned to two new lawyers, Fiorenzo and Alberto Alessi, then asked to be heard and was heard for two hours in the Prosecutor's Office.
"Mamma Tonina asks to understand once and for all if her son died from a mix of antidepressants with cocaine previously taken or if there are other reasons", says the lawyer Fiorenzo Alessi.
