In addition, a hearing will be held on extending the detention of seven other suspects in the murder and disappearance of the boy Nissim Sheetrit, and in the murder of Avi Edri

The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court will begin today (Monday) the detention extension hearings of eight of the suspects arrested in the murders and disappearances of the boy Nissim Sheetrit in 1986 and the murder of Avi Edri in 1990.

Among the suspects brought to today's hearing is the mayor who was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the involvement, and the police will ask to extend his detention by ten days.

Since some of the suspects have been detained for more than 30 days, the consent of the Attorney General is required for any arrest request and this will be submitted today by the investigators.

A hearing was held yesterday to extend the detention of Berland, head of the "Return of the Sons" sect.

During the hearing, it emerged that the investigators had accumulated new evidence that strengthened the suspicions about Berland's connection and responsibility for the murder of the boy Sheetrit.

The police representative further stated that the investigators are already in the final stages of investigating the murder and abduction of Nissim Sheetrit.

At the same time, this is not the case with the investigation into the murder of Avi Edri.

In a decision to extend Berland's detention for eight days, the judge wrote that it could not be said that the investigative materials collected in the cases were used for significant progress in relation to the suspicions attributed to Berland.

However, given that Berland is still in jail for other offenses and his liberty is less violated, the judge extended his detention.
