The director of the hardworking Damascus Hospital General Authority, Dr. Ahmed Abbas, stated that the number of hospital patients with complaints of symptoms similar to those of Corona has been stable for about a month and ranges between 30 and 40 people per day.
In a statement to SANA, Dr. Abbas indicated that the occupancy rate of the intensive care unit is still 99 percent, pointing out that there are currently 60 Corona patients in the hospital, including 16 patients in intensive care.
The capacity of the Damascus Hospital, designated for Corona patients, reaches 90 isolation beds, including 18 intensive care beds, according to Abbas, who indicated that the hospital receives only moderate and severe cases.
Dr. Abbas pointed out that the common symptoms currently are respiratory, digestive, and nervous manifestations, in addition to fatigue, general weakness, severe loss of appetite, and disturbances in the senses of smell and taste, such as an absence or increase in them, or a change in smell and taste.
Regarding the number of cases of black fungus in the hospital, Dr. Abbas indicated that there are 16 patients in the department designated for that, and the hospitalization period is long.
Last month, Damascus Hospital allocated a section for black fungus patients with a capacity of 20 beds, capable of being expanded if needed.
