As-Suwayda-Sana
In As-Suwayda, wheat cultivation began for the current season, within the areas that were planted early.
The Assistant Director of Agriculture in As-Suwayda, Engineer Alaa Shehayeb, said in a statement to SANA reporter today that the rains that fell during the past two days encourage farmers to plant the crop, since most of the wheat areas are planted with rain, indicating that the cultivation operations include successively the various regions of the governorate and will continue during the next two months.
Engineer Shehayeb pointed out that the plan for planting the wheat crop for the current season amounts to 34,600 hectares, of which 34 thousand hectares are planted in Ola and the rest is irrigated, indicating that the seed requirements are secured through the branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication, while the Farmers Union has started distributing diesel for agricultural purposes.
