Exploding corona numbers and new bad news from the clinics every day: The fourth wave of the pandemic is causing great concern for many - and it is driving people in droves to vaccinate.

Fürstenfeldbruck - This is a huge problem for general practitioners.

Most of them work at the limit.

A normal everyday practice is out of the question.

"We are at the limit," says Dr.

Peter Hösler.

The internist who runs a general practitioner practice in Fürstenfeldbruck has long been unable to cope with the many inquiries.

All dates are fully booked at least until mid-December.

Inoculation blocks in practice

In order to keep the practice running, Hösler has set up vaccination blocks.

Two days a week, vaccinations are only given for a few hours.

The rest will have to wait.

There is no more time for the vaccinations to be squeezed, according to the doctor.

"We have to treat many infections and also chronic diseases," explains Hösler.

But now more people than ever want an appointment.

“The phone is no longer silent,” says the internist.

For some, impatience turns into aggression.

Again and again, his employees would hear the accusation that things were going too slowly.

And as if that weren't enough, there are always debates with those who oppose vaccination.

But attempts to convince this group always fail.

“You achieve nothing,” says Peter Hösler.

Take concerns

But there are also people who are not generally negative about vaccinations.

In order to take away this group's concerns, the district office, as the operator of the vaccination center, relies on education.

Doctors of various specialties should take away fear from people with worries.

The payment

How many people in the district are vaccinated is still unclear. According to the district office, around 132,000 people received their second vaccination. A total of 219,000 people live in the district. This means that there are currently up to 87,000 completely unvaccinated people. If you subtract those under twelve - that's around 20,000 - up to 67,000 people in the district can be vaccinated for the first time.

Pregnant women in particular are often unsettled when it comes to vaccination, explains the medical director of the vaccination center, Dr.

Matthias Skrzypczak.

But there are no findings that contradict vaccination of pregnant women.

Especially towards the end of pregnancy, women even have an increased risk of a serious disease course with a corona infection.

A vaccination is therefore recommended.

Gynecologists are available in the vaccination center on Fridays to educate affected women.

Parents of children are also often unsure whether they should have their offspring vaccinated.

That is why there are also paediatricians among the vaccinating doctors who are ready to answer questions.

Because even under twelve year olds can be vaccinated if they belong to the risk group or if risk patients live in the family.

The doctor always decides on this.

The language barrier

In addition to medical concerns, the language barrier often stands in the way of vaccination.

That is why there is an Afghan doctor at the vaccination center who speaks Arabic and Persian, among other things.

With her cultural background, the doctor can also create trust - especially among women from her region of origin.
