U.S. intelligence sources and international inspectors reported that the Iranians quickly put the facilities back into operation and installed new machines that could enrich uranium at a faster rate • Israel said it did not intend to let go

The New York Times reports this morning (Sunday) that for almost two years, Israeli intelligence operatives have blown up Iranian nuclear facilities and missiles and in addition assassinated Iran's chief nuclear scientist.

U.S. intelligence sources and international inspectors report that the Iranians quickly put the facilities back into operation and installed new machines that could enrich uranium at a faster rate.

An American official called the rehabilitation process a "sophisticated reconstruction of the program."

U.S. officials have told their Israeli counterparts that attacks on nuclear facilities are ineffective, but in Israel they have said they do not intend to let go.

As you may recall, for the first time since Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi took office, the Iranians plan to meet with their European, Chinese and Russian counterparts at the end of the month and discuss the 2015 nuclear deal.

Iran's director of nuclear talks, Ali Bagri Kani, does not refer to the talks as nuclear negotiations but as "negotiations to remove illegal and inhumane sanctions."

Iran has said it will insist on lifting sanctions and needs a guarantee that no future president will be able to abandon the agreement unilaterally as Trump did, but senior Biden administration officials say the president will never agree to such a commitment.
