It was a picture book start in dream weather for skiing on the Zugspitze.
For the first time after the lockdown in winter 2020/21, ski lifts are running again - even if there are only two for the time being.
Despite high incidences and an extreme corona situation.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen
- Only vaccinated and convalescent people are allowed to board the mountain railways, 2G-plus has been announced, so access only with a negative rapid test.
The Zugspitzbahn will initially continue to operate with the 2G rule, informs spokesman Klaus Schanda.
You are waiting for specific guidelines.
"We hope that it can continue", says BZB board member Matthias Stauch.
The first skiers arrived early in the morning, an hour before the first lift.
“You can tell that the urge to ski has returned after such a long time,” says Stauch.
Tobias Hentschel was one of the first at the cable car.
“I am very happy.
I've been grinning under my mask the whole time. ”For him, skiing is“ justifiable ”.
But: "I also have mixed feelings."
Understandable: Hentschel is an assistant doctor in the intensive care unit at the Murnau Accident Clinic.
After the day of skiing, he went there on the night shift - and took care of corona patients.
If there are also skiing accidents, this could "lead to collisions".
It is not exactly assessable.
"We reposition ourselves every day."
Sandra from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, who is there with her husband, also feels a “strange feeling”.
The decision to go skiing was not an easy one for her.
"But Corona will be with us for the next few years."
