That was an expensive joint: a production assistant from Reutlingen (Baden-Württemberg) had to pay a fine of 4500 euros for a gram of marijuana and a hash cigarette.
He was caught with the drugs at Kochelsee in June.
Kochel am See / Wolfratshausen - On June 3, 2021, when there was a lot of excursion traffic, two police officers were already out and about in Kochel at around 10.30 a.m.
When they slowly rolled across the parking lot at the Trimini with the car windows open, they had "clearly smelled marijuana," said a chief police officer in court.
In the vicinity of an open caravan, the smell was "quite strong".
In fact, they found a smoked joint behind the car.
When asked, the 34-year-old admitted that it belonged to him.
And he gave the officers another gram of marijuana that he took from the trailer.
Richter shakes his head
The prosecutor later assessed this fact in his plea in favor of the accused, who was on vacation with friends.
"Denial would have been an option; others could have been involved," said the prosecutor.
Otherwise, the behavior of the accused made everyone involved in the proceedings shake their heads.
"It's almost impossible to get more stupid," commented judge Helmut Berger on the fact that the Reutlingen resident was caught again just one day after a fine (20 daily rates of 35 euros) from the Geislingen district court for illegal possession of narcotic drugs had become final.
In addition, the man is still on probation until the middle of next year because of an earlier conviction.
Higher fine
The accused justified his drug use at the time by saying that he suffered from migraine attacks after serving a prison sentence.
After the incident in June, however, his client went to drug counseling and kept his hands off narcotics, explained the defense lawyer.
Because of his criminal history and an "almost incomprehensible relapse rate" (Judge Helmut Berger), the fine this time was noticeably higher than last time: 150 daily rates of 30 euros each (total 4500 euros) as requested by the public prosecutor.
The defendant accepted the verdict.
