The Geological and Mining Institute of Spain reported this Monday that it found samples of stretched pyroclasts called "Pele hair", a product of the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma.
These "Pele hairs" - named after the Hawaiian goddess Pele - can have a diameter of less than 5 millimeters and form strands of glass, something that would further complicate life on that island.
