- First Kreuth, now Rottach-Egern: Motions from the Greens to support a ban on fireworks were discussed in the local councils.

The fact that the demand is right now is not due to the upcoming turn of the year, but has a different background: The Miesbach district office is currently in the process of revising its landscape protection area ordinance.

In future, it should be possible to incorporate a ban on gunfire.

Unlike in Kreuth, where they quickly came to an agreement and voted for a fireworks ban in the “Tegernsee and Surroundings” and “Weissach Valley” conservation areas, there was controversial discussion at the Rottach council table.

In the eyes of Thomas Tomaschek (Greens), the opportunity would be good to position yourself as a community against all kinds of fireworks.

“Fireworks pollute the environment, are loud and scare animals, some even to death.

Fireworks no longer fit into our time, ”said Tomaschek.

His arguments were supported by an email from Johanna Ecker-Schotte from the Tegernseer Tal animal welfare association.

Both reject all kinds of fireworks - small, large, those on New Year's Eve, at sea festivals and at private celebrations.

Mayor Christian Köck (CSU) made it clear that fireworks had recently decreased due to corona, but were still in demand.

A few municipalities such as Schliersee, Kreuth and Tegernsee have issued declarations of intent in terms of landscape protection ordinance, but: "If you shoot a few rockets, firecrackers or firecrackers, the world does not end," said Köck.

Fireworks are already forbidden in the huts in the Sutten landscape protection area and many would also follow the appeal of Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH and forego the bang of their own accord.
