Region - picking apples straight from the tree, watching the cows eat, tasting honey, grinding grain - the farm is an ideal place to experience, learn and understand with all your senses.
Attending school on a farm makes an important contribution to a sustainable understanding of the work of modern agriculture and the appreciation of food.
The “Farm Experience” program, launched in 2012, has become a long-runner among schools. Since then, 284,000 schoolchildren have visited one of the roughly 600 farms across the country with specially qualified managers. Last year the program was expanded to include higher grades. This means that grades 2 to 4 at elementary schools, all grades in special schools, as well as grades 5 to 10 in middle schools, secondary schools, business schools and high schools have the opportunity to experience agriculture with brain, heart and hand.
Information on the Farm Experience program can be obtained from teachers and farm managers at www.erlebnis-bauernhof.bayern.de and from the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forests Ebersberg-Erding at Brigitte Mogensen, Tel. (0 81 22)
