The activist presented her succession to some emblematic figures of the French feminist movement during the #NousToutes march on Saturday

At the heart of last Saturday's parade, Caroline De Haas slips it into the ears of her fellow wrestlers.

She stops #NousToutes, the collective against violence against women that she co-founded in 2018. Information had been buzzing for a few days already. The march of November 20 for the elimination of this violence was therefore the last she organized , this in order to "make room for a new generation of women," she tells us this Tuesday.

The most famous face of feminist struggles in France, but also the most divisive, will indeed take a step back.

On Saturday, the activist, always quick to debate, even presented her succession to some emblematic figures of the French feminist movement.

Media beast, she had curiously not appeared on the TV shows, had not responded to any interview request to talk about the 2021 edition of the #NousAll March.

An incongruity that had not gone unnoticed.

In its place, other faces have taken over, such as that of Marylie Breuil.

What feeling does this departure inspire among women activists?

"" I hope she will remain a voice in the feminist world ""

Nadia, feminist activist

“I hope she will remain a voice in feminist circles. I didn't always agree with her, and find her a little too tolerant of the Islamic veil, but she has the art of imposing a subject on the public space. Whether we like it or not, a release by Caroline De Haas, we talk about it for a week, ”Judge Nadia, a feminist activist from Lyon. It must be said that Caroline De Haas' career has made her a professional in committed action. Amnesty International, the Little Brothers of the Poor, Unitarian Scouts ... At the same time, she has three masters in history, she misses Sciences-po, and here she is at Unef, then at the Socialist Party, with Benoît Hamon and Najat Vallaud-Belkacem. Before slamming the door.

Within the student union, she learns activism, how to mobilize, the organization of an event ... and also enters the feminist fight by signing a forum of raped women.

She has never lodged a complaint and finally wants to speak.

She co-founded the association Dare feminism in 2009 and made a name for herself during the DSK affair, by pointing out the little place given to the victim in the reactions to the indictment of Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

She sees in it the difficult recognition of sexual violence, and even “a leaden cover” concerning rape.

Next will be #NousToutes, in July 2018, following the #MeToo and #BalanceTonPorc movements.

The high point of the collective?

The holding, every year, of a march against violence against women, each time bringing together several thousand people throughout France.

“She inspired the movement at the start.

It brought a form of innovative structure: informal collectives with members who self-organize far from the pyramidal associative model.

There is a lot of trust given to people.

She can handle 700 people in a room with a charisma that is both simple and affordable.

She is often very funny.

We can talk about very difficult things, but in a very positive spirit, ”says Marie-Cécile, of the We All Paris North Committee.

Back to business or politics?

In 2018, she reacted, associated with about thirty feminists

, to

the platform in Le Monde on "the freedom to annoy" signed by a hundred women including Catherine Deneuve.

The text denounces a return to "puritanism" and to "denouncement" after the Weinstein affair.

For the activist, his signatories thus trivialize violence against women by putting it on the shelf of "heavy drag" and therefore not so serious.

“She's got real clarity in her words and she's straight in these boots.

She managed a very broad rally, far from being obvious, by relying on the lines of force that we all have in common.

She has also put in place very effective training tools without ever being in an overhanging position, ”adds Marie-Cécile, who also grants her this rare quality:“ recognizing her mistakes ”.

Speaking loudly, she does not hesitate to knock out feminist icons (who make her feel good) like Élisabeth Badinter in a TV show, and invites people to "no longer take very seriously" the words of the philosopher after she explained, in particular, that

“The Catholic Church no longer had a problem with gender equality”.

His positions have earned him a real cyberstalking on social networks where the adjective "feminazi" is rigged to him.

What makes him temporarily leave the Web.

Since 2013, she has managed Egaé, a professional equality consultancy agency.

Will she now fully invest in this area?

Get involved again in politics, as some voices say?

Mystery for the moment, because she granted herself a few days of vacation.

But there is no doubt that his voice will weigh on the subject of women's rights during the presidential campaign that is opening.
