People who immigrate to Germany often have to overcome language and cultural hurdles.
Many immigrants have already successfully mastered these challenges and are now well integrated into society.
Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen
- New immigrants in the district can benefit from their experiences in the future.
Eight migrants have now been trained in the “Kulturdelmetscher plus” qualification course held in the parish hall of Maria Himmelfahrt in Bad Tölz.
The participants from five different countries who successfully completed the course recently received their certificate.
The cultural interpreters help with a wide variety of cases
This means that 16 cultural interpreters are now available for assignments in the entire district.
They speak Arabic, Albanian, English, French, Croatian, Kurdish, Krio, Mende, North Macedonian and Russian and can be placed for various assignments and requested by institutions and private individuals: from kindergartens and schools, for visits to the doctor, visits to the authorities to associations and everyday Stakes.
"Enrichment for our district" - cultural interpreters want to "give help back"
The course instructors Alexandra Brücher-Huberova and Ursula Steiner were enthusiastic about the participants when they handed over the certificates: "Such a competent group is a great asset for our district."
When asked about their motivation, the cultural interpreters said: "We want to give back the help that we received from others when we came to Germany."
Cooperation between Caritas, Maltese and Kreisbildungswerk
The qualification course was carried out as part of a cooperation project between the Caritas Center Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, the Malteser Hilfsdienst Wolfratshausen and the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district education center.
The qualification course was developed by the Catholic Adult Education of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising together with the Dachau Forum and the Domberg Academy.
The course participants dealt, among other things, with the topics of upbringing, family, role models, education, health, religion in Germany, asylum, culture, values and norms.
"Since the cultural interpreters are employed on a voluntary basis, we look forward to donations that help finance the service," said Ursula Steiner in conclusion, adding: "The next qualification course is already planned for 2022."
