The Public Establishment for Drinking Water in Al-Hasakah Governorate has increased the number of water desalination plants under implementation by it to become 16 after the branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, in cooperation with UNICEF, provided 9 additional plants.
The Director of the Water Corporation, Mahmoud Al-Akla, told SANA reporter that in the context of securing additional drinking water tributaries for the people in the city of Al-Hasakah, work was carried out during the current month to install 7 water desalination plants in a number of points in the center of Al-Hasakah city and its surroundings, in cooperation with the Crescent and UNICEF organizations, and the number increased to 16 station after a new issue was recently introduced.
Al-Okla confirmed the continuation of the installation operations of the stations, with the capacity of each station to produce one and a half cubic meters of pure water per hour, with the aim of securing drinking water for the people in the vicinity of each station.
For his part, the head of the SARC branch, Ali Mansour, pointed out that in response to the organization in the field of water and its frequent interruptions during the past two years, the stations were provided and the accompanying works were carried out, including the preparation of concrete bases and all accessories, with the aim of providing part of the citizens' needs for clean water.
It is noteworthy that desalination plants are implemented in public parks within the city of Hasaka, which contain surface water wells that were dug last year by the Public Water Corporation and the city council with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
