A popular holiday island in the Atlantic has declared a state of emergency due to the corona pandemic.
The 2G + rule applies immediately in hotels and restaurants.
The Portuguese island of Madeira * actually welcomes many holidaymakers who flee into the warm, especially in the cold autumn and winter months.
Due to the increasing number of infections on the island and the deteriorating corona situation in other European countries such as Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Great Britain or Germany, the autonomous government is now tightening its measures.
These mainly affect unvaccinated holidaymakers, but people with proof of vaccination or recovery now also have to adhere to stricter rules.
Madeira with strict Corona measures: 2G + rule in hotels and restaurants
The Madeiran government declared a state of emergency and introduced the 2G + rule for the leisure sector last Saturday (November 20th).
Sports events, fitness studios, hairdressers or cinemas can only be entered with proof of vaccination or recovery.
On top of that, a negative corona test must be available - a rapid antigen test that is no more than one week old is sufficient.

Hotels and restaurants are also affected by these stricter rules, so that a vacation is practically impossible for unvaccinated people - although entry is still allowed for 3G.
In addition to the strict 2G + rule, a mask is also required in closed public areas, for example in restaurants and outdoors.
Anyone who is already in Madeira as an unvaccinated person is in luck: As the
MDR
reports, a transitional rule applies, according to which no one will be punished until next Saturday who does not adhere to the 2G + rule.
