It's Christmas time in the city: the Christmas tree has been on the Freising Marienplatz since Tuesday morning.
Freising
- An evenly branched fir tree has graced the Freising Marienplatz since Tuesday morning - and thus in good time before the first Advent.
The eleven-meter-high fir tree bought by the city of Freising is 25 years old, the municipality reported.
The mighty tree was set up by the building yard with five experienced employees: Eduard, Lang, Heinz Landes, Thomas Rott and Herbert Oberpriller, who transported the tree by truck to the heart of the old town, and excavator operator Gerhard Preißer.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
Under the direction of the building yard boss Georg Rößl, they didn't even need 20 minutes to put the fir tree in a vertical position.
The Freisinger Stadtwerke then installed around 800 electric candles.
The municipal utilities put up their own Christmas trees at the bus stations.
There will be no trees this year because of the construction sites at Am Wörth and in Obere Hauptstrasse.
Christmas lights are installed
For further light shine in the old town, the Freising building yard is currently installing the Christmas lights from the lower old town to the Schieder-Eck, i.e. the confluence of Bahnhofstraße and Obere Hauptstraße.
In the already redesigned streets of the old town, the Christmas lights are now in their third season to get in the mood for the festival.
26 shooting stars of different sizes shine from the train station and the three parking garages along the sidewalks in the city center and then also in the old town.
The Christmas and Christmas tree lights are switched on for the first time on Friday.
