The district office gave an overview of the development of the corona pandemic in the Dachau district.

The bad news: The incidence in the Dachau district on Tuesday, November 23, was 581.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

The good: The willingness to vaccinate is increasing.

Dachau - From an incidence of 1000, a local hotspot regulation applies - leisure, sports or cultural events, as well as gastronomy, body-friendly services and accommodation facilities will then be closed.

Ten districts in Bavaria are currently above this value.

Infection numbers are increasing

In the Dachau district, too, the number of infections is currently increasing significantly, as the district office announced on Tuesday.

In the week from November 15 to 21, a total of 972 new infections were reported to the Dachau health department.

About 90 percent of infected people are symptomatic.

The age structure of the index cases can be broken down as follows:

7 percent 0 to 6 years

13 percent 7 to 12 years

7 percent 13 to 18 years

28 percent 19 to 39 years

32 percent 40 to 59 years

11 percent 60 to 79 years

2 percent 80 and older

When scaled down to the various age groups, children and adolescents under 18 years of age have an incidence of 930, the age group of 18 to 59 year olds 666 and those over 60 years of age 321. The incidence in unvaccinated people is 1087. Overall, it remains the same a diffuse infection process without a local hotspot. So far, the exposure location has already been determined in around 50 percent of the cases from the previous week.

The infections continue to occur mainly in the private environment.

Most of the infections found in schools are also based on out-of-school infection sites.

Due to the general spread of the coronavirus, the number of infections also increased in schools and day-care centers.

146 students in 73 classes in 33 schools are currently affected - eleven classes are completely in quarantine.

In the day-care centers, 47 groups in 39 facilities are affected.

Number of vaccinations

The number of first vaccinations in the district has risen to currently 107 224 (as of November 22).

A total of 105,123 citizens have already received the second dose of vaccination.

The second vaccination rate is currently 67.9 percent.

A total of 11 911 third vaccinations had already been carried out in the district by Monday.

According to the District Office, there are currently no resource bottlenecks for the vaccines available.

The vaccine of the third vaccination, however, is based on the vaccines previously vaccinated.

Even with full protection with a vector vaccine (Astrazeneca or Johnson & Johnson) or a so-called cross-vaccination (Astrazeneca plus mRNA vaccine), an mRNA vaccine (Biontech or Moderna) is always vaccinated as a third vaccination.

In accordance with the current recommendations, the following combination options are currently available for third-party vaccinations:

■

Astrazeneca + Astrazeneca = Biontech or Moderna

■

 Astrazeneca + Biontech =

Biontech

■

 Astrazeneca + Moderna =

Moderna

■

Biontech + Biontech =

both mRNA vaccines possible, Moderna recommendation, if both are available

■

Moderna + Moderna = both mRNA vaccines possible, Biontech recommendation, if both are available

■

 Johnson & Johnson = Moderna;

Biontech only if Moderna is not available.

Vaccination capacities are being expanded

In order to be able to cope with the "high vaccination demand" according to the district office in a timely manner, vaccination capacities in the district of Dachau are being increased further (see box).

The “Drive-Through Vaccination Center” on Lake Karlsfelder See will start work on December 7th.

For the time being, vaccination appointments are only offered there for vulnerable people aged 60 and over, as well as for necessary second vaccinations.

Appointments will probably be possible from December 1st.

The stationary vaccination center in Karlsfeld is expected to resume operations at the turn of the year, the vaccination center in Dachau in January.

From then on, the district office expects the start of vaccinations for children between the ages of five and eleven.

However, there will be a special vaccine and special vaccination times at the beginning.

Clinic situation

The number of corona patients at the Helios-Amper-Klinikum Dachau is still high: Currently, 26 patients between the ages of 25 and 95 with a proven Covid-19 infection are being treated in the normal ward, 14 of whom are not vaccinated. Twelve corona patients have been vaccinated, the second vaccination was in most cases more than six months ago. Another eight patients between the ages of 31 and 78 currently require intensive medical care. Three of them are vaccinated, but in all free cases it is over six months old.

"Our occupancy situation is in relation to the available staff," says the pandemic doctor and senior physician in charge of emergency aid, Alexander von Freyburg.

"Of course, in view of the increasing incidence, we also have employees who are in quarantine at home." Together with the relocation of staff from the operating room to the intensive care unit, the clinic ensures that capacities for elective operations and examinations are significantly reduced.

"This means that we are forced to reschedule resources every day and planned interventions have to be canceled and postponed at short notice," says von Freyburg.
