The major construction site on the Garmisch Autobahn at the level of the Penzberg-Iffeldorf junction is just before the half-time break.

From next Wednesday, however, the ascent and descent in the direction of Garmisch will be completely closed again for several days.

Penzberg - Work has been going on on the A95 near Penzberg-Iffeldorf for almost half a year.

At the junction, the motorway bridge over the state road will be demolished and rebuilt in two stages.

In addition, the road surface will be given a new surface.

This year it was the turn of the partial bridge and the lanes in the direction of Garmisch.

According to "Autobahn GmbH des Bundes", this first construction phase should run until mid-December.

Then there is a half-time break.

During this phase, the company announced, it will remain at a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour for safety reasons.

After the winter, the work will then continue on the other side.

Junction Penzberg-Iffeldorf in the direction of Garmisch closed from Wednesday

Shortly before the winter break, however, there is another complete closure: This does not affect the autobahn itself, but the exit and access to and from Penzberg-Iffeldorf in the direction of Garmisch. The "Autobahn GmbH" announced that the blockage will take place from next Wednesday, November 24th, at around 8 p.m. to Monday, November 29, at around 5 a.m. The reason are renovation measures on the roadway. Drivers coming from Munich who want to leave the A95 at Penzberg-Iffeldorf will be guided off the autobahn at the Seeshaupt junction. Drivers who want to join the A95 in the direction of Garmisch will be directed to the Sindelsdorf junction. The route on the state road below the motorway bridge remains open,as are the entrances and exits in the direction of Munich.

New bridge construction on the A95: the second stage will begin in spring 2022

According to "Autobahn GmbH", the second stage should begin in spring 2022 after the winter break.

This is followed by the demolition of the partial bridge on which the two lanes in the direction of Munich are located.

In addition, the road there will also be renewed.

The lanes will be moved to the other side.

During the demolition of the bridge and the installation of the precast girders, which weigh several tons, there will probably be complete closures again, which will also affect the state road.

The "Autobahn GmbH" has not yet given an exact point in time.

As reported, an investigation had shown that demolishing and rebuilding the over 50-year-old bridge is more economical than extensive general overhaul.

This also applies to the motorway bridge, 200 meters further south, which leads over the railroad tracks.

According to the "Autobahn GmbH", both bridges would also have static deficits.

The pure construction cost of the new bridges in the Penzberg-Iffeldorf area is estimated by the GmbH at around 2.2 million euros.
