Feldafing can be happy: half of these costs will probably be borne by the Free State - thanks to a new funding program.

Feldafing

- The roof is dilapidated, there is no accessibility, and the fire protection also shows serious deficiencies. The Feldafing gym, which was built in the early 1990s, has been in urgent need of renovation for years. With the help of a state funding program, the community wants to bring the gym in the center of the village back into shape (we reported). In the most recent council meeting he told the municipal planning and business development company Pewu where the need is greatest.

"Some things have to be renewed," said Pewu board member Andreas Keller. In September 2020 he prepared a detailed report on the necessary renovation measures on behalf of the town hall. Also because the Free State had launched a Corona funding program for sports facilities. "That promotes up to 90 percent of the measures," reported Keller. This includes the renewal of the hall floor, the lighting, the exterior and impact walls, the changing rooms, the heating, the access doors, the fire protection and the roof structure.

The latter in particular needs to be replaced urgently. "The renovation has been on the agenda for years, any further delay should definitely be avoided," Pewu clarified. Water has been penetrating through the perforated material for some time. This could damage the supporting structure and the formwork, a statics office had determined. For this alone, the Pewu reckons with costs of 600,000 euros.

The hall walls and the sports floor also need to be renovated as quickly as possible. According to the administration, the walls have a number of safety deficiencies, and the floors also have to be replaced at regular intervals. Cost: 200,000 euros. Another important point that has been preoccupying the community for a long time is the sanitary facilities. Not only are they not barrier-free, problems arise again and again with the water quality. According to Pewu, 130,000 euros will be charged for their renovation work.

It is cheaper to renovate the outer walls (60,000 euros) and the hall heating (80,000 euros).

Since the masonry shows cracks, the Pewu advises the installation of a thermal insulation composite system - also for energy reasons.

The current heating, however, is unusable.

"The heating element of the ventilation system is defective, a repair is not possible," said Keller.

As an alternative, underfloor heating or a ceiling heating system is possible.

In addition to the old, very electricity-consuming lights (40,000 euros), the doors (91,000 euros) in the building also have to be replaced.

They no longer meet the barrier-free requirements.

The fire protection of the gym also urgently needs to be brought up to date.

"It has serious shortcomings," said Keller.

Cost: 44,000 euros.

Two other planned renovation measures are the replacement of the shading system (55,000 euros), which has exceeded its intended service life, and various painting work in the building (40,000 euros).

In total, the costs amount to around 1.8 million euros.

“Half of it, that is 900,000 euros, is funded,” said Mayor Bernhard Sontheim happily.

Money that the community can really use right now.

Sibylle Härtl (Greens) and Dr.

Michael Keltsch (AUF) was surprised that the photovoltaic system discussed in advance was not part of the planning.

“Has the PV system been kicked out?” Asked Keltsch.

According to Keller, the statics of the roof currently do not allow a photovoltaic system.

"Today it's about funding, we can always discuss details later," said Sontheim.

Nevertheless, he wants to check what needs to be changed so that a PV system is feasible.

The municipal council unanimously decided to renovate the gymnasium and commissioned the administration to submit the application for a grant for the investment pact for the promotion of sports facilities.
