An exciting video of a toddler hearing her mother for the first time scorched the net recently, after the mother uploaded the video to her ticketing account.
In the video, Christina Pecala is seen holding her five-week-old daughter Riley, while hearing aids are first made for her - and then the one who first hears her mother's voice, gets excited.
This heartbreaking response garnered millions of views on social media, and Pakla was even invited to be interviewed by Fox News.

In an interview, Pakala, who is heavily involved in promoting awareness of the language of the deaf in the U.S., said that before she uploaded the video, she was debating whether to make it public at all. As they are, but I chose to post the video so they can see how Riley communicates with us. "
According to the mother, "After learning that Riley was deaf, we set ourselves the goal of giving her access to as many tools as possible that would help her communicate and develop - this includes giving her access to both American sign language and spoken English."
Pakala also said that there is no shame in sign language, given the fact that a significant proportion of parents of deaf children in the United States do not teach their children sign language.
