The municipality of Haar has now changed the parking space key for certain construction projects.

This means that builders have to show fewer parking spaces.

Haar

- Fewer parking spaces will be available for new buildings in the community of Haar.

For subsidized housing construction and construction projects with mobility concepts, the building committee set a reduced parking space key in the parking space statutes in its most recent meeting.

For apartments based on the Haarer model or with income orientation, there is then only one parking space per apartment.

This also applies to residential projects with a mobility concept.

So far, the following rule has applied: Up to 50 square meters of living space there is one parking space, with 50 to 100 square meters it is one and a half, and from 100 square meters even two.

The Green Group had proposed 0.3 parking spaces per apartment for residential projects with mobility concepts.

However, the majority in the building committee rejected the move.

At least one parking space must be shown for each apartment.

Household survey

The decision was preceded by a survey of households in communal apartments.

The town hall received almost 150 responses.

The result: there are 1.12 cars in every household.

With motorized two-wheelers, the population increases to 1.32.

"We have found that one parking space should be sufficient," explains Harald Steinbauer, deputy building authority manager in Haar, the Münchner Merkur.

The new statutes are intended to save costs for building parking spaces.

The community hopes that money will instead flow into the construction of new apartments.

The parking spaces, which are no longer to be built according to the old parking space key, are in the public parking lot, says Steinbauer.

The size of underground parking spaces has also been changed in the new statutes: from 2.5 by 5 meters to 2.85 by 5.5 meters.

So the community rules on ever bigger cars.

The municipal council still has to pass the new statutes at its meeting on November 30th.
