Hemp plantations in Sardinia, drugs for 17 million and 3 arrests

Three arrests, 17 complaints, 1,700 kilos of hemp inflorescences, for a value of 17 million euros, seized together with 16 thousand illegal plants. This is the balance of the numerous checks carried out by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Oristano on the cultivation and treatment of hemp that involved the soldiers of the Company of Oristano, Mogoro and Ghilarza. As many as 500 objectives, including farms, sheepfolds, sheds and land, inspected also with the help of the Helicopter Hunters Squadron of Sardinia which led to irregularities in the cultivation of hemp, and illicit possession of weapons.

All the inspections ended on November 20, the seized hemp was analyzed by the Ris specialists who found that the active ingredient was higher than what was allowed by the law. In particular, in a cultivation of Tramatza, about 1,500 kilos of hemp inflorescences with a Thc higher than the permitted threshold were seized, already packaged and ready to be sold. The owners of the farm were all reported and the drug with a commercial value of 15 million was seized. In Bonarcado and Milis, three boys were arrested surprised by the carabinieri while they were taking care of hemp from their illicit cultivation. About 700 kilos of plants and inflorescences seized with an amazing active ingredient greater than 1%.Finally, about 11,000 hemp seedlings found drying in a shed in Gonnosnò were seized in Usellus. "The plants came from various regular plantations in Marmilla - explain the carabinieri - but their treatment, which was not consistent with cultivation alone, led to the kidnapping and denunciation of two people".
