Senior Israeli Formula One driver Roy Nissani will make history next week when he becomes the first Israeli athlete ever to compete in Saudi Arabia.
The Formula 1 and 2 rounds arrive next Friday in Jeddah and the Israeli will be there.
Roy Nissani did not know until this morning (Tuesday) whether he would receive a permit to compete on Jeddah soil, Saudi Arabia, but today the long-awaited permit arrived.
In the past, Israeli athletes participated in the Gulf cities, but there has never been an athlete with an Israeli passport on Saudi state soil.
Nissani is in addition to being a Formula 2 driver, also a test driver for the Williams team.
The races will take place next weekend into the following week, when next Sunday will be the 27th birthday of the Israeli driver, and what a gift this will be, to be the first Israeli athlete to compete on the land of the Arab Empire of the region.
