Logistical hell and anti-French sentiment have stopped a column from Operation Barkhane. A convoy of the French army was still at a standstill on Tuesday near Kaya in central Burkina Faso. Left from Ivory Coast, the 90 vehicles and the hundred soldiers must reach the base of Gao, in Mali, via Niger, and supply it in particular with spare parts.
"The convoy is not blocked, it is parked,"
said Colonel Ianni, spokesman for the staff, justifying the decision to back down after the demonstrations and protests that ignited the city on Saturday. "
