The Iraqi forces announced today the launch of the first phase of Operation Barq al-Samaa to hunt down the remnants of the terrorist organization ISIS in several areas.
The Security Media Cell stated in a statement, "The reconnaissance battalions of the teams and operational leaders of the Iraqi army within all its sectors, the commando regiments and companies of the Federal Police teams and the tactical force of the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency in the Ministry of Interior began intensive armed reconnaissance operations in various regions with air support from the army's aviation." .
The statement added that this operation comes to track down terrorist elements and prevent anyone who may be tempted to tamper with security, destroy terrorists' hideouts, prevent cases of infiltration and purify lands within various regions.
On the other hand, the Security Directorate of the Popular Mobilization Authority announced the arrest of a dangerous member of the terrorist organization ISIS in Salah al-Din Governorate.
The Iraqi forces continue to pursue the remaining remnants of ISIS terrorists in a number of regions of the country.
