What a year is drawing to a close for Mustafa Kaya.

A year full of waiting times, but also a year with a happy ending.

Because finally the 36-year-old, whom everyone just calls Mussi, has moved his Bike Life Kaya bike shop within the industrial area in Herrsching: from Gewerbestrasse to Heinestrasse 3, directly behind the Czasny dealership.

Herrsching

- Originally, Kaya had already wanted to open there in August, but with all the more vigor, he and his team are now starting the tenth business year on a space three times the size than before.

Mussi Kaya is a ruler through and through and known like a sore thumb.

He was with the volunteer fire brigade for 25 years, only when he moved to Wielenbach with his wife Sylvia and their children in 2019 is he no longer active.

The two-wheel and motorcycle mechanic master proudly points out that he is a guest worker child of the first generation.

He himself grew up in Herrsching, where he had his workshop in his parents' garage after completing master class.

When it got too small there, he rented a larger garage from Ludwig Darchinger's. But there was no opportunity to sell bikes there. So in 2016 he opened his first shop on Gewerbestrasse. There, too, things have recently become tight - with a workshop, sales exhibition and office. Mussi Kaya has not been able to manage all of this alone for a long time. He has three employees who repair or overhaul bicycles. A regular check is just as much a part of today's high-tech bicycles as it is of any car. If there is an E like Elektro in front of it, even more. Simply adjusting the brakes or gears is no longer enough - and it is certainly not easy at all. As a two-wheeler and motorcycle mechanic, the 36-year-old was well prepared for this development. On the other hand, Corona and its consequences were not foreseeable.

Frames could not be delivered, helmets and especially children's bicycles were no longer available. Not to mention a shop door for the larger rooms on Heinestrasse. A large selection of bikes is now available again, says Kaya. But he had to wait four months for the big shop door. Time that he used to fit out the interior of the new premises. Wood from a 100-year-old hut was available to him for this. Mussi Kaya harnessed friends and family and built a rustic office hut and bicycle stands out of the wood.

“As a mountain biker, you are happy about every barn you pass,” he says. So he built a barn in the hall and is quite proud of the result. "Everyone can do a high-gloss finish, but not Hut," he says with a laugh. With a hut and a lot more space for the workshop and shop, the tenth year is off to a good start. “Quasi Bike Life Kaya 2.0.” The only thing missing are the company signs.

Kaya was very busy, especially in the two Corona summers.

His advice as a former downhill and enduro rider is in great demand.

As the father of three small children, Mussi Kaya has long since switched to electric drive, "E-Enduro, I can take my children with me in a trailer," he says.

Nevertheless, he is always available for advice, preferably extensive.

Nobody can go out to him and claim that they have not been given extensive advice.
