If you want to catch a brand new glimpse into the history of the city of Olching, you will be pleased with this news: The new chronicle is finished and can be purchased from December.

Just in time for the Christmas business, so to speak.

Olching - "Only those who know where they come from know where they are going," said the first Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Theodor Heuss. According to the town hall, the chronicle should be an exciting reference work for everyone who is interested in where this city comes from, a nostalgic reminder for all long-established residents, and at the same time it can bring the identity of the city closer to all new residents. In addition to the essential data and facts, emphasis was placed on one or the other anecdote that shows the special features of Olching and his history.

Calls for a new chronicle have been loud for many years, according to a press release from the city.

The "History of the Olching Community" was sold out all too quickly in the 1990s.

A reprint was no longer possible at that time.

Since the demand and interest of the citizens in the history of Olching has remained unbroken to this day, it was decided to reissue the chronicle.

After the story had already been dealt with competently, well-founded and profoundly by the authors of the time, Konrad Bauer, Tobias Weger and Fritz Scherer, by the end of the 1980s, this book could largely be based on it.

Weger revised the original texts, and more noteworthy photos could be added.

According to the city, the years from 1978 onwards were carefully researched by Werner Dreher with the support of Christin Gruber-Scheuermann and presented in new texts.

The year of the territorial reform seemed plausible as the starting point for the new author's remarks.

Just as this opened a new chapter in the history of Olching, the style and type of explanations in this book changed from 1978 onwards.

The end of the chronicle coincides with the town elevation in 2011. This year marks the end point of the large municipality of Olching and thus closes the history of the municipalities of Olching, Esting, Geiselbullach and Graßlfing.

But there are still some outlooks beyond the year.

On sale is

the new chronicle from the beginning of December in the town hall at the cash register and in the bookstore in Olching at a price of 49 euros.
