Since July 3, the gates of the Gaumont Aquaboulevard cinema in the 15th arrondissement of Paris have been lowered.
The cinema announced its closure on social networks for "ten days minimum, following a technical incident".
Five months have passed, but the 14-room complex - or around 2,400 seats - is still closed.
The hall remains plunged in darkness and no films are showing.
A sign at the entrance tells customers that the cinema "is closed for an indefinite period".
"It's suspicious and unusual"
For Audrey, in her thirties accustomed to going there at least once or twice a week "time is getting very long".
A resident of Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine), she praised the proximity of the cinema to her home, “I now have to go to that of the Convention metro.
Obviously, I go there much less regularly.
"
Especially since Audrey is a year-round subscription, "I wanted to be reimbursed but I have no information on what is going on", she confides.
She contacted Gaumont customer service but did not get a reopening date.
Mustapha also observes: “It is very suspicious and unusual not to have any information or any date or explanation for the closure.
"
"We still don't know anything"
On the cinema's Facebook page, many customers are concerned that the cinema remains silent about the closure.
This is the case with Carole: “What's going on with your cinema?
A technical incident that lasts a really long time.
"" More than a month of closure and we still do not know anything, "annoys Emmanuel.
“I think there are works that I understood,” says Audrey.
But even on that, it's very fuzzy.
If the cinema has indicated that it has started work, no sign of construction is visible from the outside.
The management of Pathé, which operates the theaters, indicated that they were "well aware of this closure" without confirming that the work will be carried out, and even less a date for reopening even if announcements could be made soon.
In any case, if the situation persists, Audrey, she thinks of canceling her annual subscription.
