In an exclusive interview with "Israel Today", the Philippine Ambassador to Israel, Alberto McKirog, says that Israelis will be able to arrive in the island state starting today (Tuesday) on condition that they present a vaccination certificate and a negative corona test.

However, he says those arriving in the country will have to go into three-day isolation: "We hope that soon the numbers will go down and Israel will enter the list of green countries in the Philippines, which means they can enter without the need for isolation at all."

Makirug added that "Philippine Airlines is expected to start operating direct flights on the Manila-Tel Aviv route as early as next April. We have interesting plans regarding tourism between the two countries."

As you may recall, the Philippines opened earlier this month to vaccinated tourists from green countries who come to it with negative corona tests and a vaccination certificate.

The country has recently managed to deal with the corona in an inspiring way, when only yesterday about 400 new positives were found in a country with a population of about 111 million inhabitants.

Thailand, India, Cambodia, Maldives and Sri Lanka are also among the Asian countries that have recently opened to tourists.

It is expected that more countries on the continent will join the trend and open their gates to tourists.
