Talking helps.

The municipal tourism company Alpenregion Tegernsee Schliersee (ATS) sees this as confirmed by the rangers' summer and autumn deployment phases.

Many people looking for relaxation were approached in nature with the aim of promoting not only correct behavior in the mountains, but also safety.

Miesbach

- 50 days of work within three months, 19 different rangers, over 15,000 conversations: It is a balance sheet that shows how important and extensive the rangers' assignments have become in the mountain regions of the Miesbach district. The past summer and autumn also showed how well the educational offer was accepted by the guests. While ski touring, snowshoeing and winter hiking were the focus in winter, nature conservation and regional information were the focus in summer. "Many hikers like the offer that you can ask someone who knows and knows how far it is or which route is recommended," explains ATS managing director Thorsten Schär.

Advice such as garbage disposal, staying on the way, not picking flowers and not letting drones fly were also necessary again and again.

“Some assume that they are allowed to do more than is actually allowed,” says Schär.

“For example, some dog owners are not aware of the right behavior on alpine pastures or in the mountains.

Or one or the other bivouacer knew nothing about the general, Bavaria-wide ban.

But such cases are the exception. "

Longer break before the summer season

The rangers did not start the summer season until August - the time before that was spent on preparation.

This also included the financing, which had turned out to be more expensive in winter.

The missing budget for the summer was therefore taken over by all 16 towns and cities in the district together.

The 19 freelance rangers were supplemented by two permanent rangers from the district administration.

The missions have been expanded significantly compared to winter, so that the areas of operation from Mangfallknie to Gindelalm, from Rossstein and Buchstein to Spitzingsee and Wendelstein are spread over a total of eleven different areas.

Schär: "Thanks to the financial support of the municipalities and in close cooperation with the district office, we have succeeded in being with ranger teams every other day and therefore very regularly."

The ranger assignments are to be continued in the coming winter.

"The planning is now starting so that we can start at the end of December," says Schär.

This includes discussions with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority, the permanent rangers and the municipalities.

The aim is also to limit the break between winter and summer to just a few weeks from April.

“The offer got around,” explains Schär.

"That's why you shouldn't lose contact with those looking for relaxation."
