The island of Procida is ready to be the Italian Capital of Culture 2022.
A year that will
start on January 22
with an opening ceremony that promises to be "spectacular and visionary", was highlighted today during the presentation to the Region Campania, with an event lasting about 8 hours which, inspired by the suggestion of the myths of the sea, will start from the mainland, cross the Gulf of Naples to reach the island.
Important numbers are those of Procida, the Italian Capital of Culture: 44 cultural projects (34 of which are original), 150 events
distributed in a program of 330 days of programming, 350 artists from 45 countries of the world, the direct involvement of over 2000 citizens, with the regeneration of 7 symbolic places of the island including the ancient Palazzo D'Avalos.
The program will be further enriched by two major events "of global value", on which total confidentiality is maintained, in the initial phases and towards the conclusion.
A program that has an international dimension that translates into projects such as the Biennial of Young Artists from Europe and the Mediterranean and the Echoes of Distances project which involves musicians from islands around the world including Madagascar, Taiwan, Crete, New Papua Guinea.
