Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated that his country's position on issues related to the settlement of the Palestinian issue has not changed.
The RIA Novosti news agency quoted President Putin as saying during his meeting today with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Russian city of Sochi that "Russia's position on the Palestinian track and on issues related to the settlement of the Palestinian issue has not changed," adding that "the Palestinian issue must be resolved based on previous resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council." On a fair basis.
"We will work to achieve this goal, no matter how difficult it may be," Putin added.
Russia has repeatedly stressed that its principled and consistent position on the Palestinian issue is reflected in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, indicating that the confiscation of land and Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories constitute a violation of international law.
