Washington, SANA- The problems of racial discrimination rooted in the United States have re-emerged after a court decision

Washington-Sana

The problems of racial discrimination rooted in the United States have reappeared again after a court ruling issued a few days ago acquitted the young Kyle Rittenhouse, who killed two people during anti-racism protests that took place in the summer of 2020, to serve as a new fuse that ignites the fires of divisions between Americans at the political and social levels.

A court in Wisconsin acquitted Rittenhouse of the five charges against him, including the killing of two people during the massive demonstrations that swept the United States against racism and police violence last year, but the acquittal and its ensuing repercussions reflected a sharp division along social and political lines in the United States revealed, according to an analysis Published by The New York Times, the ongoing controversies over firearms and the Black Lives Matter movement against racial discrimination in America.

The American newspaper considered that the Republicans’ celebration of the court’s decision, amid overwhelming anger from Democrats, shows the sharpness and depth of the contrast and political tensions. At a time when US President Joe Biden expressed his “concern and anger” over the decision, his predecessor, Donald Trump, congratulated Rittenhouse and expressed his support again.

Amid the anticipation of the repercussions of the decision, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers asked more than 500 US guard soldiers to prepare to intervene in the event of protests against the court's decision.

Many parts of the United States have already witnessed massive demonstrations after Rittenhouse's acquittal, and unrest on the grounds of racism and discrimination has once again come to the fore.

Hundreds of demonstrators rallied in several American cities, carrying banners reading "Black Lives Matter" to denounce Rittenhouse's acquittal. Who was shot in the back by a policeman while entering a car in which his three children were sitting, and George Floyd, who also died of suffocation by a policeman in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to ignite the anti-racism protests.

In the past five years, the phenomenon of the so-called "white supremacy" has spread in the United States, despite the false slogans that Washington and its decision-makers boast about freedom, justice and equality.

The legacy of white supremacy was embodied in the murder of Floyd, who died in May 2020 while pleading under the knee of the white policeman who kept pressing his neck to death, to keep this legacy alive, renewed and combustible in every murder of black Americans and people of different ethnic origins.
