(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 23 - More than 9 out of 10 students are in favor of the regular psychologist at school, but they would like to see the number and distribution of hours for these meetings revised. At the moment, in fact, the opportunities to speak with the psychologist are few and often concentrated in the morning, in parallel with the hours of lessons. According to 59% of survey respondents, this leads students to feel embarrassed and afraid of being judged by other classmates or professors. In short, the times and methods to take advantage of this important school resource should be changed. This is what emerges from a survey conducted by ScuolaZoo, in collaboration with the Il Bullone foundation.
The survey also showed that 71% of students have already used the service of the school psychologist at least once, considering it an overall good experience. Lapandemic has undoubtedly worsened the situation of many boys and girls, but 52% of respondents claim to have had mental health problems even before the Covid Emergency.
During the pandemic, the stress of the students was not so much the fear of being infected, but the organization of homework and distance learning lessons (40% of responses) together with the tensions that arose in the family during the lockdowns (28%) and not being able to have more social life than before (29%).
Anxiety and panic attacks are the most common disorders among young people, followed by eating disorders and self-harm.
Discrimination issues are 33% due to physical appearance and 19% to learning skills.
