The Rhineland-Palatinate state government presented its planning for income and expenditure in the coming year on Tuesday.

After the draft budget was approved in the cabinet, Finance Minister Doris Ahnen said that the development of the corona pandemic made forecasts for income and expenditure more difficult.

The net borrowing for 2022 could be kept at 894.1 million euros but lower than in the budget estimate for the current year with 1.267 billion.

Mainz - With this net borrowing, Rhineland-Palatinate is moving in a similar framework to other federal states.

The draft provides for an increase of 6.1 percent in revenue, which is estimated at 19.708 billion euros.

Compared to the budget in 2021, spending is expected to increase by 3.8 percent to 20.610 billion euros.

The draft will now be forwarded to the state parliament, which will discuss it in plenary as well as in the budget and finance committee and will probably vote on it at the end of March.

Another deficit: HSV AG makes a loss of 4.7 million euros

The football club of the second division Hamburger SV has ended the eleventh year in a row with a loss.

As the club announced on Tuesday, the loss for the 2020/21 financial year is 4.7 million euros.

In 2019/20 the deficit was 6.7 million euros.

In addition to cost reductions, it was only thanks to government corona aid (almost 11 million euros) and the profit from the sale of the stadium site (14.6 million euros) that it did not get any worse.

"In these days in particular, the budget will also have to make a contribution to overcoming the crisis," said Ahnen and, in addition to Corona, named the consequences of the flood disaster in July.

In addition, it is about political accents, such as the government of the SPD, Greens and FDP have planned.

She named measures for the path to the desired climate neutrality, innovations and economic development as well as a socially just design of changes in the economy and society.
