The corona situation in the Bruck district clinic is tense.

The hospital is now taking various measures.

Fürstnfeldbruck - In order to cope with the high number of patients, plannable interventions are being postponed and staff are being redistributed.

From Wednesday, November 24th, there will be a ban on visiting the clinic.

That emerges from a message from the district clinic on Tuesday.

As of November 23, there are 20 people to be treated in the Covid isolation ward and seven patients in the intensive care unit, all of whom require ventilation.

In the past few days there has been a sharp increase.

Flattening the curve not in sight

A flattening of the curve and falling patient numbers are currently not in sight, as hospitalizations usually lag behind the infection numbers by seven to ten days.

In order to cope with the persistently high number of cases and to be able to care for all patients, the personnel in the isolation and intensive care unit are supported by colleagues from other areas.

For this purpose, plannable treatments would have to be postponed, it says in the message

Currently, eleven intensive care beds can be operated in the clinic, and another intensive care place can be made available at short notice.

So far, no Covid patient has had to be moved.

No other possibilities

In view of these general conditions, the clinic management is forced to impose an absolute ban on visits with immediate effect.

This does not apply to relatives of seriously ill, dying patients (after consultation with the ward doctor under 3G conditions) and partners of expectant mothers (3G applies at birth, 2Gplus after birth).

"We are aware that the ban on visits is a great burden for the patients and their relatives, but at the moment we see no other way of reacting to the tense situation," said board member Alfons Groitl.

"Since we also experience the serious consequences a Covid19 disease can have every day, we appeal to all fellow citizens to get vaccinated", adds the Medical Director Dr.

Florian Weis.

"Vaccination cannot prevent every infection, but it usually protects against severe disease."
