One of the buildings involved is the Wah Fung Building in Jordan. It is 57 years old. It is understood that there are a number of unauthorized structures on the roof of the building, including corridors and fences.
However, some small owners were dissatisfied. The Buildings Department alleged that the unauthorized building had existed decades ago and was suspected to be built by the developer.
The OC of the building, however, revealed another version to the reporter of "Hong Kong 01", stating that the unauthorized rooftop structure had fallen on Nathan Road during the typhoon. Therefore, the Buildings Department had issued a letter to the rooftop owner for clearance in 2019, and the OC I also issued a lawyer's letter this year.

The illegal structure of Wah Fung Building in Jordan has existed 4 years after the completion of the building

A reporter from "Hong Kong 01" visited the Huafeng Building today and found that the rooftop unit is located outdoors, and there is a corridor covering about half a meter above the unit's entrance, which extends from the indoor stairs and is supported by iron branches on the ground.
Whether it is the iron fence covered or supported on the corridor, it is very dilapidated, and the ceiling has even seen concrete.

However, the Incorporated Owners of Huafeng Building stated that the roof has always been equipped with different unauthorized structures, not only the roof and the fence. The Buildings Department has issued a letter to the roof owner requesting removal in 2019, but believes that the owner knows it.
The corporation also plans to apply to the court for a forced demolition order to remove all illegal structures.

The department also pointed out that it has contacted owners who meet the above-mentioned circumstances to establish some background facts and explore whether they can be dealt with in a pragmatic manner according to the current mechanism; if other cases have similar circumstances, they will also be considered under the same criteria.
However, the Buildings Department emphasized that if unauthorized structures involve independent structures and are not difficult to remove, such as unauthorized structures built on rooftops, the Department will continue to follow up on the mechanism.
