Ankara-Sana

Tens of thousands of Turks demonstrated today in the Turkish city of Istanbul, demanding the resignation of the government, a day after the deteriorating economic situation and the fall of the Turkish lira as a result of the policies pursued by the regime's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Turkish lira fell to a record low today due to the sharp cuts in interest rates imposed by the Central Bank under pressure from Erdogan.

And the media reported that the demonstrators chanted slogans condemning President Erdogan, calling for the resignation of the government and holding early parliamentary elections. The hashtag “government resignation” was issued on Twitter, and one of the tweets confirmed that Erdogan is stealing the people’s money, saying, “The wealth you have is what you stole from us.”

The leader of the Turkish opposition Republican People's Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, and the head of the opposition Nationalist Good Party in Turkey, Meral Aksener, called for early elections, stressing Erdogan's incompetence, while the International Institute for Democracy and Elections confirmed that Turkey was classified as one of the countries with the most decline in democracy.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish regime police had previously suppressed several protest demonstrations in Freedom Square in Bakirkoy in Istanbul, denouncing the policies pursued by Erdogan in the country, especially with regard to measures to address the Corona pandemic and the continuous interventions with monetary policies that proved their failure, not to mention his continued work to finance terrorist groups and foreign interventions in countries Neighborhood and territory.
