"100 euros once, 100 euros twice, 100 euros three times, auctioned!" The auctioneer's hammer resonated in the Salle des Moines of the Vaux de Cernay abbey on the occasion of a large auction. The new owner Paris Society separated on Monday from the old furniture of the hotel-restaurant located in Cernay-La-Ville. Pedestal tables, silverware, English-style furniture, pianos… No less than 586 lots were offered to individuals, bargain hunters, interior designers and professionals in the sector. While a good majority left for a total of 90,000 euros, a few unsold products remain after this sale. These, as well as other furniture from the estate, will be the subject of a flea market scheduled for this Friday, at the Ferme des Vallées.

"We're going to get another car, it won't fit in the Twingo," smiles a couple from Essarts-le-Roi.

One thing is certain, these Yvelinois did not expect to return "with something".

“This is the first time that we have participated in an auction, we are there because we have lots of memories here, confide the buyers.

Of course we are happy, it's as if we brought home a little piece of this abbey.

"

"We have the impression of playing a bit like poker"

Well wrapped up in their coats, Krystel and Olivier outbid several times to the point of grabbing a dressing table, five chairs and a "super nice" art deco piece of furniture.

These inhabitants of Montfort-l'Amaury do not attend auctions either.

"It's funny, we have the impression of playing a bit like poker, we are motivated by the desire to seize the unique business", share the new buyers.

But the auction game can be exhilarating at times.

"Well, my budget is exceeded", regrets a participant who was eyeing two candlesticks left at 480 euros.

This regular in the auction rooms also missed the opportunity to bring back two valets at a price of 30 euros and finally awarded at ... 250 euros.

"I had really set my sights on it but hey, it's the game."

Priced at 1,000 euros, a Kawai piano sold for 3,800 euros

In the abbey, business is quickly linked despite the participants sometimes cooled by the autumn air of an unheated room.

Hat, gloves, scarf….

It was better to provide the appropriate equipment because the event took place throughout the day, from 11 am to 7:30 pm. “This is a historic sale in a historic hall,” confided Catherine Villemur, curator. auctioneer who represented the Le Floc'h study.

It's a big sale for us, fairly classic in terms of furniture, but which requires special logistics in terms of Internet installation, lighting and preparation.

"

If the beginning was "completely crazy", the continuation did not however leave "too many surprises" to the organizers.

A few pieces, however, created a certain craze, such as the Kawai piano priced at 1,000 euros and finally sold at ... 3,800 euros, a pair of quadrangular club chairs priced at 100 euros, sold for 1,000 euros.
