"The total rhino population in Africa is 1300."
This assertion is false. Never has the rhino population been reduced to such a low number. This is however what Eduardo Goncalves, the founder of the Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting, said before a committee of the British Parliament for the Animals Abroad Bill, on November 2. latest. No one corrected it. Neither the chairman of the committee and MP Neil Parish, nor any of the members, nor any of the other two witnesses received that day. Nobody blinks in front of this "fake news".
"Your answers are very good,"
even adds Neil Parish, who then says
"you have given us very good proof."
The other expert witnesses received that day alongside Eduardo Goncalves do not repeat it either: they are however Mark Jones, one of the directors of the Born Free Foundation, and Audrey Delsink, a doctoral student. in an elephant research program, ecologist on a South African scientific council and one of the directors of the British Humane Society International.
Two individuals understood as experts and from whom one could logically expect, at
a minimum
, elementary knowledge of the figures on the populations of large African mammals.
