Triage means that medical professionals must decide who to help first due to scarce resources.
Bodendieck emphasized that every patient would of course be treated, even if the clinic was overloaded.
But he restricted: “The only question is what is possible.
If two patients who need to be ventilated compete for a ventilator place, then a decision has to be made as to which patient has the better chance of treatment.
The treatment place would be assigned to him. ”It will be decided and weighed up on a case-by-case basis.

In order to avoid such a situation, a significant reduction in contact is now required.
“I am an optimist and I say: Now everyone pulls your belt.” Everyone should keep their distance from others and wear FFP2 masks.
Vaccinated people should also test themselves daily.
But there is a contradiction to Bodendieck's assessment.
According to hospital coordinator Michael Albrecht, Saxony is still a long way from triage.
A prognosis from November 22nd predicts that there will be 669 intensive care patients in the Free State on December 6th, said Albrecht.
"We are currently at just under 350, which means almost doubling the current number of intensive care patients in 14 days."

It makes sense not to first consider how to deal with it in an absolutely escalated situation.
“That is why you should have a quiet discussion and put together a committee of experts to develop sets of rules within this framework and then give them to the doctors.” He thinks something like this makes sense in principle, “but not because we need it this week . "
