An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit the outskirts of the city (Hazrat Abu Al-Fadl Mosque) in Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeast of Iran, at dawn today.
According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Foundation of Tehran University, the epicenter of this tremor was at a depth of 11 km from the surface of the earth, explaining that there have been no reports so far of possible damage.
One person was killed and material damage was caused by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that rocked Hormozgan Province, near the city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran last week.
