The southern Russian city of Rostov organized an international historical national event under the title (Making Peace across Generations in the Memory of the Historical Russian State), with the participation of Syria, represented by its ambassador in Moscow, Dr. Riad Haddad.
In a speech during the opening session of the event, Haddad said: “The title chosen expresses the policy of the Russian Federation historically, as we have witnessed in Syria this policy that aims to create peace and stability and pushes towards achieving them at the international level.”
In a meeting with the governor of Rostov Province Vasily Golubev, Haddad confirmed that Syria is doing everything it can with the help of Russian friends to create the necessary conditions for the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, noting that large numbers of them have so far returned to Syria, but some Western countries are trying to obstruct the ongoing efforts to achieve this return.
In turn, Governor Golubev announced that the Rostov Canton authorities are working to find new ways to cooperate with Syria, whether in the field of humanitarian support or creating conditions for fruitful cooperation between businessmen in the two countries.
On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Haddad held meetings in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rostov Canton, and visited the State University of Railway Communications. Important agreements will be signed to develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
In interviews with the Russian media, Ambassador Haddad said that the issues on the agenda of the forum held within the event receive great attention from the Syrian side, expressing the gratitude of the Syrian people, government and leadership for the assistance provided by the Russian Federation to the Syrian people and for the firm position adopted by the Russian leadership in defending Syria and preserving its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
At the opening of the forum, speeches were delivered by the First Deputy Commissar of the Russian President in the Southern Federal District and General Grigory Famenka, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Committee on Veterans Affairs and Emergencies in the Rostov Region.
