Alternatives to the urn wall in Buchloe are to come

Buchloe - Because more and more people in Buchloe are opting for burial in the urn, additional forms of urn burial should be possible in the cemetery from next year. Buchloe - Because more and more people in Buchloe are opting for burial in the urn, additional forms of urn burial should be possible in the cemetery from next year. To do this, the cemetery has to be redesigned in some areas, as Meinolf Hasse from the landscape planning office Daurer + Hasse explained to the main committee on Tuesday last week.

The space in the existing urn wall is exhausted, said Mayor Robert Pöschl (CSU).

So it is time for additional offers.

The working group cemetery redesign therefore held several meetings and one on-site meeting to discuss which additional forms of burial could be possible in the city cemetery in the future.

Together with the external office, three different forms of burial have emerged that can be implemented.

In the new cemetery, an urn community grave is to be built on a lawn area of 30 square meters east of the morgue.

There is space for 24 urn graves next to a tree, although these would not be identifiable.

The dates of the deceased would be placed on a central memorial stele, explained Hasse.

So-called tree graves are planned at the transition from the new cemetery to the forest cemetery. In the triangular lawn, which is surrounded by three trees, there are 17 double urn graves with data plates as well as a common grave with 16 grave sites and a central memorial stone with the dates of each deceased. Anonymous burials can also be carried out in an urn collecting grave, according to Pöschl. Of course, urn burials in individual or family graves are still possible. The cemetery redesign recommended by the working group would be produced and maintained by the city of Buchloe. The mayor said the fee costs for this are still to be calculated.

"This is a nice, cautious, green concept for redesigning the cemetery," said Bernd Gramlich (SPD). Cautiously also because the existing is not impaired. “The concept is an asset for our cemetery, which takes personalization and anonymity into account.” Michaela Schilling and Rudolf Grieb (both UBI) considered the concept to be future-oriented and well thought out.

"I stand behind the further development," said Third Mayor Elfriede Klein (Greens). The cemetery would also be ecologically upgraded. She supports the recommendation because there are people for whom anonymity is important. In Thomas Reiter's (FDP) eyes, the urn wall has the character of a locker, which is why he appreciates the new possibilities of urn burial. "We are creating freedom of choice for the citizens of how they would like to be buried." He suggested that candles and flowers that relatives would like to put down should not be left lying around "abandoned", but given clear places to put them. Franz Nusser (CSU) emphasized: "With the options we can do justice to the wishes of the citizens".

If the city council agrees, the redesign of the cemetery could already be implemented in the spring of next year.

This would also be accompanied by a change in the cemetery and cemetery fee statutes, which the city council dealt with in its meeting yesterday (after the editorial deadline).
