The Australian government last night (Wednesday) declared Hezbollah and all its various institutions and arms as a terrorist organization, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.
In doing so, the country has joined 17 other countries that have decided to define the organization similarly over the past two years.
The decision means that any Australian citizen or organization that acts in favor of Hezbollah, his actions will be considered a criminal offense.
Foreign Minister Yair Lapid welcomed the decision, which was announced by Australian Home Security Minister Karen Andrews.
"I thank the Australian Government for the decision that Hezbollah, in all its arms, is a terrorist organization. Australia is a close friend of Israel in the fight against global terrorism.
Lapid said that this is the right move as Hezbollah is one body," and any separation between its arms is artificial. " He called on other countries and the European Union to join the pressure on Hezbollah, outlaw its activities and recognize the organization as a terrorist organization.

On Friday, the British government announced that it would declare Hamas a terrorist organization.
As part of the initiative, announced by British Home Secretary Pretty Patel, support for Hamas' political arm will be considered a criminal offense with 14 years in prison.
The decision will be approved by parliament this week.
The decision means that hoisting the Hamas flag, or convening an organization in the country will be considered criminal offenses.
