The Belarusian authorities announced today that Polish forces prevented a group of migrants from crossing its border by shooting at them last night.
"Polish forces welcomed the refugees with gunfire, while Belarusian security forces secured the area to prevent any possible provocations," TASS news agency quoted the Belarusian border commission as saying in a statement.
The committee warned that the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border is still tense, pointing out that the Polish forces continue to fire gas at the refugees.
The crisis of thousands of migrants who have been on the border between Belarus and Poland has worsened for some time, which insists on preventing them from crossing its lands towards European countries and uses the army and security to do so, amid the deterioration of their conditions in light of very low temperatures that have reached the freezing point.
