Shock at the traditional Perchermeier store in Weilheim's pedestrian zone: on Saturday night, the goldsmith's shop was broken into, the damage is in the six-figure range.

Weilheim - Roswitha Rauh opens one drawer after the other. Where valuable rings and watches normally lie, there is a yawning emptiness. “Empty, empty, empty too,” says the 69-year-old adopted daughter of company owner Anton Perchermeier (80), who took over the traditional business that was founded in 1904 by his grandfather in 1978. The perpetrators did a great job. The cupboards have also been cleared, only a few pieces can still be seen in the shop window. “Everything was gone, but we made a makeshift replenishment. It should look neat, ”says Rauh.

When she came to the shop on Schmiedstrasse on Saturday morning, she was initially annoyed when she looked in the shop window because she thought her father had started redecorating without her.

"But when I came in, one of the employees immediately said: break-in, don't touch anything," says Rauh

The jeweler in Weilheim cleared out: the perpetrators entered the building via the courtyard

The perpetrator (s) reached the rear of the building via the courtyard. A goldsmith's window there had been brutally pried open. "But everything that was behind the window was carefully placed outside - presumably so as not to make any noise," Rauh suspects. The big question is: How did you get into the courtyard, which is separated from the jeweler by a two-meter wall? The only access is through a door on Marienplatz next to the optics store, which includes a law firm and a dentist. And this door had been broken open - but from the inside.

Hence Rauh's assumption: the perpetrators allowed themselves to be locked up in the evening, hid for a few hours and then took action before they got outside again through the door.

"There are now such high-resolution images from Google Maps on the Internet that you don't have to be familiar with the area to see what it looks like in the backyard," says Rauh.

Jeweler suspects professionals to be the culprit - Germering was also broken into

For them, the perpetrators were professionals. Because they left the wedding rings on display - "They obviously knew exactly that these were just dummies," says Rauh. Strangely enough, they didn't even touch the 35 euro cash that was lying open on a table in the workshop, as well as the exchange and coffee cash register. “They were really only after jewelry and watches.” And they were tidy: the perpetrator or the perpetrators removed the packaging from every piece of stolen goods and thrown some of them into the wastepaper basket, according to Rauh. All the drawers were also ransacked, but they didn't touch the safe - knowing full well that they didn't stand a chance. Instead, they overlooked a 4,000 euro watch that was lying open on the workshop table.

The police, who are investigating the case on Saturday but have not yet sent an official press release, have extensively investigated the crime scene.

Rauh did his own research and discovered that a jewelry store in Germering had also been broken into on the same evening, also from the rear.

However, the perpetrators were more brutal inside - showcases were smashed, which a local resident heard around 1 a.m. and alerted the police.

But it came too late.

Jeweler in Weilheim cleared out: Even customer memorabilia are gone

The time of the crime in Weilheim is unclear, on request, the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria South go out from 6.15 p.m. to 9 a.m. A neighbor claims to have heard suspicious noises around 11:15 p.m. "Anyone who has noticed something suspicious during the period should report," said a police spokesman.

The break-in means a lot of work for Rauh and Perchermeier, who have had a few sleepless nights behind them.

“Over the past few days we have taken an inventory of all the goods that were there,” says Rauh.

The insurance company was there yesterday, and it is still far from clear how much and, above all, when it will pay.

But the worst, according to Rauh, is that: She pulls open a drawer and points to another empty compartment.

“There were the customer repairs, that's all gone.

There were mementos, such as watch chains from the great grandpa, they cannot be replaced. ”There are still difficult conversations ahead.
