Engineer Wafiq Zarouf, Director of Plant Wealth at the Al-Ghab Management and Development Authority, stated that the area planted with sugar beet for the autumn grove amounted to 762 hectares, with farmers continuing their cultivation operations in conjunction with the rains that encouraged them to plant, pointing out that the main agricultural areas are concentrated in the areas of Salhab, Ain al-Krum and Jub Ramla and singular.
Zaroof explained to the SANA Economic Bulletin that 23,806 kg of multi-embryo beet seeds were distributed, with expectations of an increase in the cultivated areas after the provision of diesel fuel for the agricultural sector at a rate of 8 liters per acre to carry out agricultural work and prepare the land for cultivation.
For his part, a member of the Executive Office of the Hama Farmers Union, Hafez Salem, pointed out that a series of meetings and seminars are being conducted in the regions of Al-Ghab, Mhardeh and Salhab, with the aim of encouraging the cultivation of sugar beet, since the Al-Ghab region is the only one currently cultivating it.
The farmer, Muhammad Salem, said that the sugar beet crop is one of the important crops for which the Al-Ghab region is famous, and that the return of this cultivation will have important results for the people of the region, in addition to restarting the factory of the Tal Salhab Sugar Company again, indicating the need to work to secure fertilizer, whose prices have risen dramatically.
The farmer, Ali Hassan, indicated that the marketing price of the sugar beet crop specified for the current season achieves a profitable profit for the farmer, taking into account any increase in the costs and requirements of agricultural work.
The General Authority for the Management and Development of the Forest in Hama governorate has allocated an area of 4,322 hectares for the cultivation of the sugar beet crop for the next agricultural season for the fall season, in addition to providing 47 tons of seeds.
